Bring it! We'll take it all.
This attitude
is the driving force behind Neko, an all girl-band born in
Lancaster in June of 2010. Whether it be punk-pop, or
metal, or acoustic we'll do it all, and we'll do it
better!
Karla, Ellery, Alley, and Elektra first met in Beginning
Rock Band, a course that is offered at the Antelope Valley
College. (India had taken the class a few years earlier.)After two semesters together, the girls decided to
form a band to get them through the scorching Mojave summer.
The ladies range in age from 17 all the way to...well,
better not to be too specific.
The band came together quickly. When we say quickly, we mean that night! Nothing stands
between these girls and what they want to do.
The girls drew inspiration for their name from a
doodle that was drawn by Elektra and Karla, originally
calling themselves "The Elektric Kattz", but later switching
the the shorter, snappier Neko (pronounced "Nay-Co"),
meaning "cat" in Japanese. These women aren't afraid to be
feminine, but can be a little, shall we say, catty, when
they need to, to drum up the perfectly fun-loving and
rebellious
attitude they are known for.
